# How Are 5G Mobile Phones and Users Identified on the Network?
When a mobile phone accesses the network, it needs to
deliver its identity information.
Just like a person who has a real name, nickname, and ID, mobile phones also have their own identities in order to be verified on the network.
#SUPI
(Subscription Permanent Identifier)
SUPI = IMSI (MCC +MNC + MSIN)
#SUCI
(Subscription Concealed Identifier)
SUCI was used to protect SUPI on the air interface for security reason
SUCI usage
scenario:
*The
initial registration which has not acquired 5G-GUTI
*Received
an "Identity Request " message after sending a registration
request
#5G-GUTI (5G Globally Unique Temporary UE Identity)
5G-GUTI =
PLMN ID + AMF ID + 5G TMSI
5G-GUTI is allocated to the UE by AMF. =
#5G-GUTI
vs GUTI
5G = MCC +
MNC + AMF Region + AMF Set ID + AMF Pointer + 5G
TMSI (80 bits)
4G = MCC +
MNC + MME Group ID + MME Code +
M-TMSI (80 bits)
#GPSI
(Generic Public Subscription Identifier)
MSISDN or
external ID
>>used
for addressing a 3GPP identifier in different data networks outside the 3GPP
system
MSISDN = CC (Country Code) + NDC (National Destination Code) + SN (Subscriber Number)
Public identifiers used both inside and outside of the 3GPP system.
#DNN =
Data Network Name
Same
as APN in 4G
-select SMF
and UPF for a PDU session
-select N6
interfaces for a PDU session
-determine
policies to apply to this PDU session
PEI =
Permanent Equipment Identifier
PEI = IMEI
(4G)
